Luxury Wedding Invitations Scotland- Wedding Stationery Timeline

It can be confusing when you start your wedding planning journey to know when you need to organise and send your wedding stationery, so here’s a handy Wedding Stationery Timeline to get you started. Every wedding is different but my timeline works well for my handmade wedding stationery which can take a little longer.

Wedding Stationery Timeline: 12+ MONTHS BEFORE

As soon as you have booked your wedding venue and date, book in with your stationery to avoid being disappointed. Some organised brides book up to 2 years before their wedding!

TOP TIP: If you’ve got your date and venue booked then you can book in. You don’t have to know exact details, colours or numbers to book in with me.

SEND SAVE THE DATES (if you want them!)

As a result of the Pandemic the next couple of years are going to be busy with all the rescheduled weddings even before the newly engage couples. Your guests may be attending more weddings than they had originally planned, so make sure that they know about yours.

Save the Dates are also useful if you have guests traveling from far away or if it’s a busy Bank Holiday weekend. This way your guests can get organised for your special day.

TOP TIP: Start to gather all the addresses for your guests even if you are not sending Save the Dates. It can save you loads of time for your invites and can help you work out how many people you want to invite.

Wedding Stationery Timeline: 9 MONTHS BEFORE

Speak with your stationer as soon as possible but at least 9 months before your wedding (and plan to send your invitations around 4 to 6 months before your wedding date). I work on a production slot system where I only take on a certain number of couples per month (handmade takes a bit longer) so work out when you want to send your invites and book in for the month before: e.g. if you want to send in July book in for a June slot - I won't need your full wedding details and numbers until the end of May.

TOP TIP: You can personalise all my designs to match your wedding colour scheme; whether it’s colourful or monochrome I have over 100 colour combos to choose from.

In ‘normal’ times this gives your guests plenty of time to make travel arrangements and book accommodation. This also gives you a chance to receive RSVPs in plenty of time and pass the numbers onto your venue and suppliers. Make sure you set a firm date for your guests to reply to and give yourself enough time to contact anyone who has forgotten to reply!

TOP TIP: Check when your venue or suppliers need to know your final numbers by and this will give you the date when your guests to reply by.

Once you have received all your RSVPs start to organise your final numbers and any other details you’ll need for your wedding day (like hymns for the Order of Service).

TOP TIP: Although you may get some of these items included with your venue package, they won’t be personalised to you. Having matching menus, place cards, and table plans can really add a luxury touch to your day.
